Six Dangerous London Gunmen Locked Up After Major Police Raid
Six violent men have been slammed behind bars after a bold Metropolitan Police swoop uncovered a stash of illegal firearms and ammo across London. The crackdown ended with hefty sentences following an intense investigation that targeted the city’s gun crime.
Firearms Found in Shoebox Hideout
In the early hours of June 17, police executed an urgent warrant and found three guns plus ammunition tucked away in a shoebox inside a garage belonging to 30-year-old David Messenger. The operation stemmed from intelligence about an illegal firearm at Messenger’s home.
Key Arrests And Shocking Evidence
- David Messenger was arrested. Police recovered deleted Snapchat messages between him and 29-year-old Jordan Joseph. The chats revealed Joseph asked Messenger to stash the guns and bring them to the funeral of Lemar Urquhart, shot dead in Brixton last year.
- Officers stopped a taxi near Wandsworth Cemetery carrying gang affiliate Chuckiel Simms, 25, and another man. They found a gun, ammo, and a folding knife on board, leading to arrests.
- Police later pulled over another vehicle with gang associates Nyron Johnson-Cross (31), Demare Vassell (28), and Jordan Jones (31), also attending the funeral. Guns, ammunition, knives, and class A drugs were seized, along with an internal dash cam recording of them plotting how to avoid DNA traces on the firearms.
Lengthy Sentences Handed Down
- Chuckiel Simms, Lambeth: 9 years 9 months for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition, and knives.
- David Messenger, Clapham: 10 years for possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
- Jordan Joseph, Southwark: 16 years for possession of a firearm with intent.
- Nyron Johnson-Cross, Lambeth, Demare Vassell, Surrey, and Jordan Jones, Croydon: each jailed for 15 years for possession with intent to endanger life.
Police Hit Back at Gun Crime
Detective Superintendent Victoria Sullivan said: “Guns destroy lives and communities — the recent shootings in London are a brutal reminder. I am immensely proud of officers who worked tirelessly to make London safer by removing these dangerous offenders. This is a clear warning to criminals and gang members using firearms: we will catch you and bring you to justice.”
