Man Charged Over Shocking Grooming and Rape of Teen Boy in Worthing
Susssex Police have charged a 35-year-old man following the horrific grooming and rape of a teenage boy under 16. The victim was targeted via Snapchat messages before arranging to meet the suspect overnight between April 3 and 4 in Worthing.
Victim Endured Hours of Abuse Before Escaping
The boy suffered a harrowing ordeal, being raped and sexually assaulted. He was driven around in a car for more than three hours before managing to escape and report the attack. Police launched an immediate investigation after the incident was reported on May 21.
Thomas Crabtree Faces Multiple Charges
Thomas Crabtree, also known as Will, from Sundew Close in Bedford, was arrested and charged with a string of serious offences. These include:
- Rape
- Assault by penetration
- Sexual communication with a child
- Causing a child to view sexual activity
- Meeting a boy under 16 years following grooming
- Taking a child away from lawful control
Crabtree appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 3, and was remanded in custody. He is due back in court on July 1.
Police Plea for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Paul Heal said: “These allegations have been treated with the utmost seriousness they deserve. The young victim and his family will continue to receive the full support of Sussex Police and our partners.”
