Last December 2, chaos hit Newmarket Green, Eltham, when a teenage e-bike rider was brutally knocked down in a savage hit-and-run. The boy suffered life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull and severe leg damage.
Driver Nabbed for Brutal Smash
Robin Horvath, 19, from Old Farm Avenue, was swiftly caught as the driver behind the horror crash. Initially slapped with attempted murder charges, Horvath’s offence was later reduced to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He admitted guilt and faced Woolwich Crown Court on October 3 for sentencing.
Judge Slams Crash as ‘Deliberate and Deadly’
Judge Ben Gumpert KC blasted Horvath, saying he “plainly used his car as a lethal weapon to deliberately run down” the teenager.
But the judge admitted medical evidence was insufficient to fully judge the boy’s injuries. The victim had been “very difficult” and uncooperative with hospital staff, complicating treatment and assessment.
Sentencing Postponed – Long Jail Term on Horizon
Judge Gumpert has ordered more medical reports before handing down a sentence. Horvath will return to Woolwich Crown Court on December 8.
The judge warned the teen faces a “lengthy sentence of imprisonment.”
