Baby Murder Probe Launched in Newbury After One-Month-Old Dies

Thames Valley Police have opened a murder investigation after a tragic death rocked Newbury. A one-month-old baby boy, Colby Stroud, was found in cardiac arrest at a home in Fountain Gardens, Ashridge Court, just before 2am on Saturday (9/5).

Baby Rushed to Hospital but Dies

Emergency crews from South Central Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. Colby was taken to hospital but sadly later died. Born on 10 April this year, the tiny tot’s cause of death remains unknown after a post-mortem on 13 May.

Two Arrested Over Baby’s Death

On Monday (14/5), police arrested a 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from Newbury on suspicion of murder. Both remain in custody as the investigation intensifies.

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik said: “This is a tragic and distressing incident and will cause great concern in the community. We are conducting a full investigation and have arrested two people in connection with Colby’s death.”
