Young Cyclist Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run in West Chiltington

A 10-year-old boy is fighting for recovery after being slammed by a car in West Chiltington late Tuesday night.

Child Struck on Church Street

The lad was hit by a black Renault Twingo on Church Street at 10.20pm on 6 October. He suffered serious injuries to his arm, shoulder, leg, and hip and was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Driver Arrested on Multiple Charges

The driver, a 76-year-old local man, escaped injury but was arrested nearby. Police charged him with suspected drink-driving, drug-impaired driving, failing to stop after the crash, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

Sussex Police are hunting for anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles beforehand. Dashcam or CCTV footage could prove vital. Witnesses should contact [email protected] quoting Operation Mainland.
