Woman Brutally Attacked After Night Out in Nottingham

Night Out Turns Horrific

Kane Gutteridge and Beth Wallace launched a violent attack on a 20-year-old woman, leaving her with a perforated eardrum and scarring on her face.

The victim and her friend were heading home in Nottingham city centre when the pair confronted them in the early hours of June 11, 2022.

Violence Erupts on Upper Parliament Street

What began as an argument quickly spiralled into a savage assault. Wallace struck the victim first before being taken down and punched in the face by Gutteridge.

The victim lost consciousness during the attack, and her friend was also hurt by the duo’s violence.

Justice Served at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court

Following a police appeal, both attackers were identified and arrested. Gutteridge, 22, of Cornwall Road, Arnold, was charged with assault and assault causing actual bodily harm. Wallace, 21, of Wheatley Drive, Carlton, faced assault charges.

On 17 January, they pleaded guilty and were sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

  • Gutteridge received an 18-month community order, tagging, and a 12-week curfew.
  • Wallace was handed a year of community service.
  • Both must complete 120 hours of unpaid work and pay over £1,000 in compensation and costs.

Police Condemn ‘Heinous Attack’

“Gutteridge and Wallace’s actions were completely unacceptable on a woman who was just trying to enjoy a night out,” said PC Rebekah Jackson of Nottinghamshire Police.

“She was knocked unconscious and suffered serious facial injuries as a result of this heinous attack.”

“Nottinghamshire Police condemns all acts of violence and warns anyone behaving this way will face the consequences. Tackling such mindless criminality is a top priority, and we will prosecute anyone who acts like this.”
