Armed Police Arrest Seven Teens After Teen Stabbed in Worthing
Armed police were called to Chapel Road, near Liverpool Road, at around 4.45pm on Sunday 13 March following a stabbing incident. A 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital with wounds to his torso but has since been discharged.
Seven Youths Arrested in Stabbing Probe
Following extensive enquiries including CCTV reviews, witness statements, and drone searches, seven boys aged between 12 and 15 were arrested:
- Three 14-year-olds from Worthing charged with grievous bodily harm with intent; one also charged with possession of a knife.
- A 12-year-old boy from Worthing charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
- A 14-year-old from Littlehampton arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in public; released under investigation.
- A 15-year-old and a 13-year-old from Littlehampton released without charge.
All charged youths have been released on bail with strict conditions and are due to appear before Brighton Youth Court on 22 April.
Police Warn Against Naming Suspects
For legal reasons, none of the suspects can be named. The public are reminded that identifying or speculating about them could jeopardise their right to a fair trial.
Chief Inspector Vows to Crack Down on Youth Violence
“I would like to reassure the public that we continue to work with partner agencies and the local community to prevent and detect youth violence, and to take robust action against offenders,” said Chief Inspector Sarah Leadbeatter, District Commander for Adur and Worthing.
“This remains an active investigation, and anyone with information is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Abacus.”
