US Government Slammed for ‘Interfering’ in High-Profile UK Murder Case
Family Accuses US of Blocking Justice
Radd Seiger, spokesperson for the family of Harry Dunn, has launched a blistering attack on the US government. His parents claim America is “actively interfering” in the UK’s criminal justice system. This comes after Anne Sacoolas, a US government employee, was allowed to appear via videolink at the Old Bailey this Thursday.
Sacoolas caused the death of 19-year-old Harry Dunn in 2019 by driving on the wrong side of the road near RAF Croughton, a US base in Northamptonshire. She fled the UK just 19 days after the fatal crash, claiming diplomatic immunity.
Family Kept in the Dark – Calls It ‘Inhumane’
“Harry’s parents have been completely kept in the dark since Sacoolas’ guilty plea on October 20,” said Seiger. “We are appalled to learn that the US government is now actively interfering in our criminal justice system.”
He blasted the “continued cruelty” inflicted on Harry’s family, describing the treatment as “nothing short of inhumane” and damaging to their mental health.
‘Cowardly Act’ Demanded Accountability
The family will accept a genuine reason if Sacoolas cannot attend in person, but Seiger called the virtual hearing “a cowardly act on the part of an oppressor.”
Seiger has formally requested an urgent meeting with Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to find out how the UK government plans to respond to this interference.
A Tragic Case Shrouded in Diplomatic Controversy
- Harry Dunn was killed in August 2019 while riding his motorcycle.
- Sacoolas, a former spy, drove the wrong way near a US military intelligence base.
- She left Britain claiming diplomatic immunity shortly after the crash.
- The case has strained UK-US relations and sparked calls for justice reforms.
The stakes remain high as the UK seeks answers and accountability in this tragic and controversial case.
