Weekend Crime Crackdown in Maidstone Leads to Multiple Arrests
Police Turn Up The Heat on Trouble-Makers
Between Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November 2022, Maidstone police ramped up patrols to keep criminals at bay. Their mission? To make town centre restaurants, bars, and clubs safer for everyone.
Officers worked closely with licensed venues and CCTV teams, reacting swiftly to reports of anti-social and violent behaviour. The strong police presence was a clear message: trouble won’t be tolerated.
Quick Arrests After Disturbances and Knife Allegations
Two men were snapped up on suspicion of affray following a public disturbance. A third man was also detained after an altercation, as he turned out to be wanted on a court warrant.
But the crackdown didn’t stop there. Two more suspects were arrested on the High Street for allegedly carrying a knife—both were swiftly taken into custody, ensuring the streets stayed safer.
Chief Inspector Vows Tough Stance Through World Cup Season
‘The enhanced police presence during the weekends will continue throughout November and December, and those visiting the town during the World Cup can expect to see these highly visible patrols,’ said Chief Inspector Mark McLellan, Maidstone’s District Commander.
‘We remain determined to tackle those intent on violence or disorderly behaviour and our response will be swift and robust. I would remind members of the public that we depend on them for assistance and they should not hesitate to call us if they see something suspicious. We should be contacted on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.’
