War Crimes Squad Busts Man Over 2000 Murder of Journalist
Police from the War Crimes Team, part of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, swooped on a Northamptonshire home on Tuesday, February 22, arresting a 48-year-old man.
He faces suspicion under Section 51 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001 and was hauled into custody. Though currently released under investigation, the probe is very much alive.

The arrest ties back to the chilling 2000 murder of journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support as the investigation heats up.
Police Urge Witnesses—Especially in Sri Lankan Community—to Speak Up
Detectives are appealing for anyone with info, notably members of the Sri Lankan community living in the UK, to step forward and help crack the case.
Commander Richard Smith, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command: “This is a significant update in what is a sensitive, complex investigation. There will still be people who may have information, particularly in relation to the murder of Mr Nimalarajan, and we would urge those people to come forward and help achieve justice for Mr Nimalarajan’s family.”
