Notorious Paedophile and Double Killer Bishop Nears Death in Prison
Barry Bishop, 55, the vile Brighton paedophile and double murderer, is now receiving end-of-life care at Frankland Prison, Co Durham. Despite surgery, medics say he has just weeks to live.
Brain Cancer Spreads After Failed Surgery
The predator was first diagnosed with bowel cancer, which has since spread to his brain. A recent operation to halt the tumour’s growth failed, leaving Bishop in decline.
“Bishop has weeks or, at most, months left … His life is ebbing away and he is getting progressively weaker,” a source revealed. “He is getting good care at the jail but it is only palliative care to make his final weeks less painful.”
Convicted for Gruesome ‘Babes in the Wood’ Murders
Bishop’s horrific crimes shook Brighton for decades. In October 1986, he lured best friends Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway to a wooded area in Wild Park, Moulsecoomb, where he sexually assaulted and strangled them.
Despite being close when their bodies were found and prosecuted, Bishop was sensationally acquitted in 1987.
He struck again in 1990, kidnapping, molesting, and throttling a seven-year-old girl in Whitehawk, before leaving her for dead at the Devil’s Dyke.
Justice Finally Served After 32 Years
Thanks to breakthroughs in forensic science, Bishop was finally convicted for the ‘Babes in the Wood’ murders in December 2018. The families of his victims endured a 32-year wait for justice.
“A lot of people think there is an element of karma to this,” the source added. “Not many of the staff — nor some of the inmates – feel too sorry for him. Bishop has never shown much remorse, so people feel justified in not feeling much sympathy.”
