Spirit thief nabbed after £1,280 theft spree in Sittingbourne
Man caught stealing Lego and booze
Kent Police were alerted to two separate thefts involving a determined thief in Swale. On 21 August 2023, a man tried to pinch nearly £280 worth of Lego from B&M in Neats Court Retail Park, Queenborough.
Spirit heists at Sainsbury’s
Fast forward to autumn, between 19 and 29 October 2023, staff at Sainsbury’s in Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne, reported five separate shoplifting incidents. The suspect swiped bottles of spirits valued at around £1,000, making off without paying.
Arrest made and charges filed
On 1 November, police swooped in Central Avenue and arrested Benjamin Ferrell, 36, of Murston Road, Sittingbourne. He was charged by the Swale Victim Based Crime Team with six counts of theft. The defendant was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Medway Magistrates Court on 2 November.
