Senior coroner Dr James Adeley has confirmed a breakthrough in the mystery of a body found in the River Wyre.

Body Found in River Wyre Identified

Speaking at Lancashire Coroner’s Court, Dr Adeley revealed he called in consultant maxillofacial surgeon Ian Edwards to compare dental records obtained by the police.

“I examined the body discovered near Rawcliffe Road in St Michael’s on Wyre at 2.15pm on February 20,” Dr Adeley explained.

Dental Records Seal the ID

Surgeon Edwards reviewed the dental work and found the restorative treatment was an exact match.

“On the balance of probabilities, and more, I am satisfied that positive identification has been made,” Dr Adeley confirmed.

This marks a key step in the investigation following the grim discovery earlier this year.
