Crime Squad Locks Up 14 Thugs for Over 63 Years

Fourteen criminals who caused havoc have been slammed behind bars thanks to the tireless work of the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad. This elite squad of uniformed officers and detectives targets burglary and robbery offenders, and their recent haul is impressive — a whopping 63 years and eight months in total sentences handed down.

Callous Crooks Caught and Sentenced

Detective Inspector Darren Reynolds, head of the Crime Squad, praised his team’s achievement. He said: “Securing more than 60 years in prison sentences in the space of a month is a testament to the outstanding work our officers carry out on a daily basis.”

He added: “The offenders we’ve locked up have shown exceptional levels of callousness and often see a person’s vulnerability as a motive to commit an offence. We will never allow such offending to go unchallenged and will do everything in our power to support victims and pursue justice.”

Harsh Sentences for Ruthless Offenders

  • A man busted for breaking into the same pensioner’s Wateringbury home four times was jailed for 3 years after 11 fraudulent transactions were made on the victim’s bank card.
  • A knifepoint robber targeting a woman in her 60s on Lydd High Street got six years behind bars.
  • Three men who terrorised caravan occupants in Detling with machetes and axes were locked up for a combined 25+ years.
  • Two fake police posing men who threatened a woman with a knife in Gravesend and stole from another home in the town were jailed for a total of 12 years.

Ongoing Operations and Safety Warnings

The Crime Squad also made six new arrests and got approval for 21 new charges recently. Among those charged are two Medway men accused of seriously injuring a man and woman during an aggravated burglary in Dartford — both remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court in late June.

An Ashford man is also facing charges after a dangerous driving incident on the M20, with a court hearing set for early July.

Stay Sharp: Protect Your Home While Away

DI Reynolds reminded residents planning to leave home for a break to stay vigilant. “If you are going to leave your home unoccupied, please ensure all windows and doors are properly locked and garden tools secured,” he said.

He advises investing in timer switches for lights or radios to mimic occupancy and installing private security cameras to deter burglars. “These simple steps often stop thieves looking for an easy target. Burglary remains rare, but if targeted, rest assured every effort will be made to catch the culprit.”
