In a shocking attack inside his living room, Appleby grabbed a machete and swung it at his mate. The victim barely managed to raise his hands in self-defence, nearly losing a finger to the savage blade. Police found the injured victim unconscious and the weapon stashed behind the sofa at Appleby’s home on 1 Road.
Justice Served: Jail Time for Machete Attack
Appleby pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and was handed a hefty sentence of 5 years and 3 months at Newcastle Crown Court. Authorities issued a stark warning to anyone thinking of carrying or using knives: “You will be caught, arrested, and brought to justice.”
