Three Men Jailed for Brutal Attempted Murder in Huddersfield
Max Lambert, 34, Liam Whitaker, 39, and Liam Hanbury, 41, were sentenced today at Leeds Crown Court for the savage attempted murder of a man on Spinners Close, Huddersfield, back in January 2022.
Lambert Locked Up for 30 Years
Lambert from Romanby Shaw, Bradford, received a hefty 30-year jail term with an extra five years on extended licence after being found guilty last September. Whitaker, of Poplarwood Gardens, Bradford, and Hanbury of St Paul’s Road, also faced tough justice for their roles in the attack.
Police Condemn ‘Savagery’ of Attack
“These three men inflicted dreadful injuries on their victim in what was a brutal assault which we and two juries believed was a clear attempt to commit murder,” said the prosecution. “The victim suffered life-changing injuries, and the court’s heavy sentences reflect the savagery of their attack. These criminals were swiftly caught thanks to a comprehensive police hunt. We hope the victim finds some comfort now seeing these thugs behind bars.”
Chief Supt Vows to Stamp Out Knife Crime
Chief Superintendent Jim Griffiths, Kirklees Police District Commander, slammed the offenders:
“The severe sentences send a clear message: if you carry and use weapons, expect many years behind bars. We will use every resource to track down and prosecute serious violent offenders. We urge anyone with information about knife crime or organised crime in Kirklees to come forward and help keep our communities safe.”
