Three Men Jailed for 25 Years Over Nighttime Rape in Hull
Three brutal rapists have been locked up for a combined 25 years after attacking a lone woman who thought she was getting into a registered taxi in Hull City Centre. The horrifying crime took place last year when the victim was heading home after a night out with friends.
Brutal Attack on Woman Who Trusted Fake Taxi
Bakhtullah Safi, 18, from Margaret Street, and Habibullah Ahmadzai, 18, from Wellsted Street, were found guilty of rape as joint enterprise at Hull Crown Court on February 14. Kehan Safi, from Wellington Lane, pleaded guilty to rape earlier.
On Sunday, July 30, just after midnight, the woman got into what she believed was a licensed taxi parked along Ferensway. Instead, the three men took advantage of her trust, driving her to an address in Hull where they carried out the horrific attack.
Heavy Sentences for Violent Sexual Predators
- Bakhtullah Safi – 8 years

Following the assault, Bakhtullah even demanded a £20 fare, which the woman refused before fleeing to safety.
Investigation and Statements
The Protecting Vulnerable Persons Team and Major Crime Team tirelessly hunted down the suspects thanks to CCTV footage capturing Bakhtullah driving away towards Hull Royal Infirmary. The victim’s bravery throughout the investigation was praised by Detective Constable Ashley Webster, who called the attackers “violent sexual predators.”
“The woman has been incredibly brave throughout the investigation and court proceedings. What she has been through is something no one should ever face,” said DC Webster.
Detective Inspector Jon Jeffs vowed zero tolerance towards violence against women in Humberside:
“We are committed to making our streets safer by investigating, pursuing perpetrators, and bringing them to justice. If you’ve been a victim of rape or sexual assault, please come forward.”
