Tottenham, London – February 25, 2025 — A shocking discovery rocked Tottenham when 75-year-old Pepita Sakirecili, also known as Pepita Garcia, was found dead in her home on Reynardson Road after police forced entry on January 13 during a welfare check.
Pepita May Have Died Before Christmas
Police believe Pepita could have been dead since before Christmas 2024, but the exact cause of her death remains a mystery. The London Ambulance Service raised concerns that led to the grim find at her residence in N17.
Man Charged Over Preventing Lawful Burial
Investigators have charged 40-year-old Dominic Whitton, a local resident of Reynardson Road, with preventing a lawful burial. The charge raises serious questions about what happened after Pepita’s death and why her body was left undiscovered for so long.
Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Inspector Barry Hart made an urgent plea for anyone with information about Pepita’s last months to come forward.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to provide any background on her life. We would like to build a picture as to what may have happened to Pepita.”
Officers are especially interested in the following:
- Any mobile phone or dashcam footage from Reynardson Road between October 16, 2024, and January 31, 2025.
- A taxi driver who gave Pepita a ride to Reynardson Road in August 2024 and reportedly saw her struggling to carry building supplies. Police believe this driver might have footage or details about her condition and welfare.
