18-Year-Old Woman Jailed for Brutal Attempted Murder and Kidnap Plot
Shortly after midnight on October 10, 2020, George, then 18, was picked up by her victim in a van. They made a quick stop to collect two shopping bags before driving through Brighton.
Violent Struggle at Selsfield Drive Park
George insisted on stopping at a park, grabbing the steering wheel multiple times until the vehicle halted on Selsfield Drive. There, she lunged at the 23-year-old man with a knife, biting his finger down to the bone during a violent street fight.
Police Find Shocking Evidence of Kidnap and Murder Plot
Thanks to quick calls from the victim and a passerby, police arrived swiftly. In the shopping bags, officers uncovered protective gear, bleach, duct tape, and a Stanley knife — all linked to a chilling plan to kidnap, murder, and cover up her crimes.
A detailed “to-do list” outlining her entire plot was also found at her home.
Judge Hands Down 13.5-Year Sentence
George was charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. On April 6, at Lewes Crown Court, she was sentenced to 13-and-a-half years behind bars.
“This was a cold, premeditated plan to kidnap, torture and murder an innocent man, with clear steps to then cover-up the crime,” said Detective Superintendent Jon Hull.
“George would have followed through with her hugely disturbing ‘to-do list’ if not for the victim’s quick action and the rapid police response.”
“I thank the victim, the 999 caller, and everyone involved—especially Detective Paul Thomas—for removing a dangerous individual from the streets.”
