Police chase ends with load of paving slabs haul in Kent

High-speed pursuit in Penn Hill

On the morning of Thursday 9 February 2023, Ashford Community Policing Team officers spotted a suspiciously overloaded car in Penn Hill. When signalled to stop, the driver sped off, sparking a dramatic police chase.

Car finally stopped in Great Chart

The chase ended in Great Chart where officers recovered a large stash of paving slabs from the vehicle. The heavy load had tipped off police to potential criminal activity.

Two men arrested over stolen goods and multiple offences

Two men, aged 40 and 44, were taken into custody on suspicion of handling stolen goods. The 44-year-old faced additional charges including failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. He was also linked to a shop theft in Lenham the day before.

Both suspects have been released on bail as investigations continue.
