Two Men Locked Up Over Gun and Ammo Plot Using Innocent Cabbie

Tomasz Mysiak and Sebastien Hajda have been jailed for eight years each after plotting to supply a firearm and ammunition, using an unsuspecting taxi driver to move the weapon. The pair were convicted at Kingston Crown Court on Wednesday, 13 June.

Gun Smuggling Scheme Exposed

On 5 April 2017, cabbie on duty in Mitcham was ordered by Mysiak to pick up a mysterious package. Police surveillance caught the driver collecting a plastic bag with a box from a second man. When officers stopped and searched the cab, they found a handgun and 137 rounds of .32 calibre ammo hidden in the boot.

The taxi driver was immediately arrested but cleared after explaining he had no idea what was inside the package – he was just following Mysiak’s instructions.

Met Police Strike Back

Officers raided Mysiak’s home in Greenford, snapping him up on suspicion of supplying guns. They also found over £4,000 in cash, which Mysiak claimed was for business and personal use. Days later, Hajda was arrested at his Mitcham address. Hajda stayed tight-lipped during police interviews.

Investigation uncovered mobile phone records proving the pair were in constant contact about the weapon. Mysiak tried to cover his tracks, claiming he was elsewhere and denied knowing Hajda or the gun. But detectives caught him out with covert surveillance footage.

Justice Delivered, Another Gun Off London’s Streets

Mysiak skipped bail and didn’t show up for court but was convicted in his absence. A warrant is now out for his arrest.

Detective Constable Paul Hawthorn, Met’s Serious and Organised Crime Command, said: “We’re very satisfied to have secured this verdict against two men who conspired to use an innocent man to transport a firearm and a large amount of compatible ammunition. Even more importantly, we’re pleased to have removed another gun from London’s streets. This is further proof the Met is committed to tracking down those involved in illegal weapons – we will find them and bring them to justice.”

Meanwhile, a third man, 28-year-old Lukasz Cecula, was found not guilty of conspiracy to supply a firearm and ammunition.
