Two Jailed Over Bold Dover Car Robbery and High-Speed Chase
Two criminals have been locked up for over five years following a brazen car theft in Dover. Jade Cosier, 28, and Erik Horvath, 24, were found guilty of robbing a man known to Cosier back in April 2024.
Victim Betrayed by Acquaintance
Cosier gained the victim’s trust by visiting his home and borrowing money. After accompanying him to a cashpoint, they returned to find Horvath and two teenage boys inside, having slipped in through an unlocked door left open by Cosier. The gang demanded the man’s car keys and bank card before making a swift getaway in his vehicle.
High-Speed M2 Chase Ends in Arrest
Police were alerted quickly and soon spotted the stolen car speeding along the M2 motorway. Officers boxed in the vehicle, stopping the getaway dead in its tracks. Cosier, Horvath, and the two 17-year-olds were all taken into custody.
Sentencing and Police Reaction
- Cosier, from Aylesham, pleaded guilty to robbery and dangerous driving. She was slapped with a 2 years and 4 months jail sentence at Canterbury Crown Court on November 7.
- Horvath, formerly of Dover, admitted robbery and was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months behind bars.
- One teenager has already received a Youth Rehabilitation Order, while the other is still awaiting sentence.
Detective Constable Charlotte Tracey said: “These four people took advantage of a man known to Cosier who had even offered to help her earlier that day. They put him in fear of violence, and Cosier endangered road users with her reckless driving. I’m pleased they were caught quickly and jailed — they are no longer a threat to Dover’s streets.”
