Two criminals jailed for savage manslaughter of Martin Shaw in brutal attack

Jemma Marshall and Jason Wadsworth Get Prison Sentences

Jemma Marshall, 4½ years behind bars. Jason Wadsworth, a hefty 8 years and 4 months. Both convicted at Manchester Crown Court in November 2025 for the vicious manslaughter of 45-year-old Martin Shaw.

Horrific CCTV Shows Brutal Beating

On 10 September 2023, Martin Shaw was walking home along Ashton Road when Marshall and Wadsworth spotted him. They pulled up in Marshall’s car, dragged Martin inside, and launched a savage assault.

  • Repeatedly punched and battered Martin’s face and body.
  • Marshall showed no remorse, whining about blood splattered all over her car.
  • After beating him, they forced Martin back to his own home without permission.
  • Wadsworth yelled: “You better give her, her money,” hinting at dark motives behind the attack.

Exploiting Addiction to Fuel Violence

Martin was a vulnerable man battling drug and alcohol addiction. Marshall took advantage, forcing him and other addicts into drug use then demanding mounting debts.

“Wadsworth acted as Marshall’s enforcer, using intimidation and violence to collect money,” police reports state.

After the home invasion, neighbours saw the pair leave Martin’s address. Police found Martin badly injured; he later collapsed and was rushed to Royal Oldham Hospital, where he died on 4 November.

Denials and Silence from the Guilty

Marshall claimed she only gave Martin a lift and denied threatening him over money. Wadsworth stayed silent during his police interview.

Justice has finally been served after this horrific, fatal attack on Martin Shaw.
