Just Stop Oil Protesters Jailed Over Massive April Oil Depot Blockade

Prison Sentences Handed Down
El Litten, 35, from Luton, was sentenced to 28 days, while 74-year-old Barry Mitchell from Telford got 21 days for aggravated trespass. Both have already served time this year for their environmental protests.
M25 Protesters Face Court Battles
Seven other Just Stop Oil supporters arrested during four days of M25 disruptions in November appeared at Guildford and Maidstone Crown Courts today. Isabel Rock, 41, and Phoebe Plummer, 21, were released on bail after spending nearly a month on remand for their parts in the protests.
Ongoing Campaign Sparks Thousands of Arrests
Over six weeks in October and November, Just Stop Oil protests caused massive disruption, leading to more than 700 arrests. Since April 1st, the movement has seen over 2,000 arrests, with 24 active supporters behind bars.
Just Stop Oil insists its peaceful actions highlight the government’s failure to stop licensing over 100 new oil and gas projects by 2025. They argue that continuing fossil fuel expansion fuels climate catastrophe and skyrocketing energy bills, threatening the very foundations of democracy.
