Brothers Jailed in Sheffield Cannabis Farm Bust
Mirjan Petku, 25, and Rexhep Petku, 22, both listed as having no fixed address, were slammed with prison sentences at Sheffield Crown Court. They were caught red-handed running a Class B cannabis factory.
Police Crack Down on Rotherham Cannabis Cultivation
On March 23, officers raided a property on Woodhouse Green during a major clampdown on cannabis farms in Rotherham. Inside, they found two rooms packed with more than 60 fully grown cannabis plants plus a nursery of seedlings. The rooms were kitted out with high-powered transformers, fans, and lighting—clear signs of a professional setup.
Police Warn of Links to Organised Crime
“We are continuing to gather intelligence and execute warrants at a rapid pace as the crackdown on cannabis cultivation and the associated crimes continues in Rotherham,” said Temporary Sergeant Matt Smith.
“Cannabis growing has been linked to modern slavery and exploitation of vulnerable people. The profits fund organised crime ripping through our communities.”
“We’re asking the public to help us spot drug production hubs. If you’re nervous about talking directly, contact Crimestoppers anonymously at crimestoppers-uk.org.”
Sentences Delivered
- Mirjan Petku was handed 2 years and 10 months behind bars and must pay £190 restitution upon release.
- Rexhep Petku received 2 years in prison and a £156 restitution order.
