Two Men Arrested as NCA Busts Major Ketamine Lab in Essex
Authorities raided a suspected ketamine lab in Hutton, Essex, on Friday, detaining two men aged 44 and 73. The pair were arrested at a rented property on Barnston Way over suspicion of producing class B drugs.
Massive Haul of 20 Kilos of Drugs Confiscated
Officials uncovered an estimated 15 to 20 kilos of ketamine along with lab equipment used to manufacture the drugs. Specialist search teams from Essex Police joined the National Crime Agency (NCA) in the weekend-long operation.
One Man Remains in Custody, Other Released on Bail
The 73-year-old suspect has been bailed pending further inquiries. Meanwhile, the 44-year-old remains in custody as the investigation continues.
NCA Vows to Crack Down on Drug Factories
“We suspect the flat was being rented exclusively for the purpose of housing a drugs factory capable of producing large quantities of ketamine,” said Jacque Beer, NCA Regional Head of Investigation.
“Alongside Essex Police, we have dismantled it and safely removed the equipment. Thanks to local partners including the fire service and ambulance crews for their help.”
“We are committed to tackling the drug trade, which harms communities and fuels further crime.”
