Man Dies After Charlton Assault, Two Men Charged with Murder
Tragedy struck in Charlton after a brutal assault left a 58-year-old Polish man dead. The incident unfolded at a home on Erwood Road at around 2.45pm on Wednesday, 22 November.
Victim Found Critically Injured
Police arrived to find Mr Dlugosz with serious injuries consistent with an assault. A 47-year-old woman at the scene also suffered minor injuries.
Officers administered first aid until paramedics from the London Ambulance Service took over. Mr Dlugosz was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly died from a head injury on Saturday, 25 November.
His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Two Men Arrested and Charged
At the scene, police arrested two men on suspicion of assault. Radoslaw Brzezicki, 41, of Erwood Road, Charlton, and Marius Bruzas, 49, of Longmoore Street, Westminster, were initially charged with grievous bodily harm against Mr Dlugosz and actual bodily harm against the woman.
Both appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 24 November.
Murder Charges Follow Death
Following Mr Dlugosz’s death, the charges were upgraded to murder on Monday, 18 December. Brzezicki and Bruzas are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 4 March 2024 for a pre-trial hearing.
