Balaclava Bandits Busted After Brutal Home Attack
Kaine Fearn and Cameron Thorn made a chilling midday raid on a Carlton home wearing balaclavas. Armed with a machete and hammer, they stormed the victim’s bedroom on Station Road, August 14, 2022.
Victim Fights Back As Attackers Flee
The victim suffered facial injuries during the violent scuffle. When he shouted for help, the duo bolted. CCTV caught one speeding away in a nearby car.
Police tracked the vehicle to Derbyshire hours later. Fearn was found in the passenger seat, driven by his partner Juliette Ashton. Both were arrested, and further police inquiries led to Thorn’s capture at another Derbyshire address.
Three Sentenced After Weapons Attack
- Fearn, 25, pleaded guilty to affray and carrying a bladed weapon. He was jailed for two years and one month.
- Thorn, 28, admitted affray and possession of an offensive weapon. He is serving three years behind bars.
- Ashton, 25, pleaded guilty to assisting an offender. She received an eight-month suspended sentence and must complete 10 rehab days.
All three were slapped with restraining orders following their Nottingham Crown Court sentencing on March 17.
Police Deliver Strong Warning on Violent Crime
“This would’ve been a very scary experience for the victim,” said Detective Constable Lionel Thursby. “Fearn and Thorn, armed and masked, wanted to strike fear. Their aggressive behaviour is completely unacceptable.”
“Carrying weapons in public is a serious crime. I’m pleased they’ve been punished, as has Ashton for aiding them. Their sentences send a clear message: Nottinghamshire Police will not tolerate this behaviour.”
