Knife Attack Horror: Two Petersfield Men Jailed for Brutal Stabbing Spree

Shaun Charles Hanson, 50, and Anthony John Seymour, 22, both from Petersfield, have been locked up after a savage knifing that nearly killed a vulnerable victim. The Winchester Crown Court found them guilty on 11 November, and on 22 December Hanson was sentenced to 21 years, while Seymour got 22 years behind bars.

Breathtakingly Appalling Attack

Her Honour Judge Miller did not hold back at sentencing. She slammed the pair for launching a “breathtakingly appalling attack” on a vulnerable alcoholic, armed with large knives and acting with “full intent to kill.” The judge called it a miracle the victim survived.

Stabbed 34 Times in Late-Night Assault

The horrific attack unfolded shortly after 1am on 20 May at a flat on Durford Road. Police arrived to find the 33-year-old victim battered and stabbed 34 times. According to court testimony, Hanson punched the victim before the relentless stabbing began. The victim managed to escape by forcing a door into his attackers.

In a chilling statement, the victim said it was “the scariest thing” he’s ever endured and feared for his life. He now struggles to leave his home alone, haunted by the trauma.

Police Praise Courage and Investigators

Detective Constable Andy Jones expressed relief at the swift justice: “Hanson and Seymour’s violent attack was extreme. Thanks to the victim’s quick thinking and emergency responders, his life was saved. It’s only luck he survived.”

Jones also thanked witnesses who came forward and praised the investigation team for their hard work in bringing the criminals to justice.

Police Sergeant Philp Shore assured the community: “This was an isolated, heinous attack. We take violent crime seriously and will continue to act decisively to keep Petersfield safe.”
