Teen Stabbed in Colchester Street Brawl

Essex Police sprang into action on Tuesday, 9 January, after a 16-year-old boy was seriously stabbed on Queen Street, Colchester.

The youngster was rushed to hospital with life-threatening stab wounds. Miraculously, after urgent life-saving treatment, he has made a full recovery.

Violent Row at Pepe’s Chicken Shop

CCTV showed the victim got into a nasty argument with two men inside Pepe’s Chicken Shop just before 6:30pm. During the heated dispute, the boy was stabbed multiple times but managed to flee onto the street.

Two Arrested and Charged With Attempted Murder

  • Police identified 19-year-old Kaya Adu and 21-year-old Rushi Jadeja as the attackers.
  • Both were arrested on 13 January and charged with attempted murder.
  • Adu also faces charges for possession of an offensive weapon in public.

Sentenced to Nearly Seven Years in Jail

At Chelmsford Crown Court on 9 April, both men pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, charges which the court accepted.

On 4 June, they were handed hefty jail terms of six years and nine months each. Adu must serve an extra three years on licence after release.

This brutal street stabbing leaves a chilling reminder of violence on Essex streets – but justice has caught up with the offenders.
