Two Men Jailed for Helping Murderers Flee After Sheffield Shooting
Two men have been locked up for helping killers dodge justice in a shocking Sheffield shooting case. Abdul Hakim and Nasser Nashir were sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court after aiding suspects fleeing following the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Lamar Leroy Griffiths.
Innocent Bystander Gunned Down in Broad Daylight
On 29 March 2022, gunmen opened fire at Diamond Hand Car Wash in Sheffield’s Burngreave area. Lamar, an innocent bystander, was hit by a stray bullet and later died despite emergency efforts to save him. His death sparked a major murder investigation, which led to multiple arrests.
Hakim and Nashir Destroyed Evidence, Helped Fugitives Escape
Probes revealed Hakim and Nashir were determined to cover up the crime. They actively destroyed evidence and assisted two murder suspects to flee the country. Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell said the pair worked relentlessly, even during Covid lockdowns, to aid the killers’ escape.
Sentences Handed Down
- Abdul Hakim, 26, of Cardwell Drive, Sheffield, got 7 years and 8 months for assisting an offender, arson, and unrelated weapon possession charges.
- Nasser Nashir, 33, from Kirton Road, Sheffield, was jailed for 5 years for assisting an offender.
“This verdict is crucial for Lamar’s family and friends,” said DCI Bowell. “While Lamar was an unintended victim, justice isn’t just for the shooters but also those who helped them escape.”
