Drugs and Guns: Two Sentenced in Norfolk Crackdown

Kelly Bond, 53, from Kenninghall, and Darren James, 48, formerly of Dereham, have been handed hefty jail terms after being caught with drugs and a loaded handgun. Bond was sentenced to 16 years, while James got 22 years behind bars.

Snared with Cocaine and a Loaded Handgun

The duo were arrested in Dereham in the early hours of May 12, 2020, after police found cocaine, a loaded gun, and ammunition in their vehicle. A raid at a Kenninghall property uncovered two more packages of cocaine.

Investigations revealed Bond and James had been travelling across the UK, orchestrating the purchase and supply of significant amounts of class A and class B drugs. Both were charged with firearms offences and possession with intent to supply.

Serious Crime Unit Delivers Justice

“We are pleased with the significant sentences handed to Mr Bond and Mr James,” said DS Eddie Hammond from the Norfolk and Suffolk Serious and Organised Crime Unit. “They used encrypted devices to arrange wholesale drug deals and were caught with a loaded firearm. Both have previous firearm convictions and refused to cooperate.”

“The sentences reflect the gravity of their crimes. Our team’s relentless work shows our commitment to making Norfolk and Suffolk safer by targeting organised crime.”
