Terrifying Machete Attack in Dartford: Two Men Jailed Over Brutal Stabbing
Frenzied Knife Assault in Temple Hill Square
Grant Odejeh and Elias Spencer launched a savage knife attack on a defenceless man, stabbing him repeatedly in a terrifying assault on November 20, 2021. The victim, caught off guard and chased through his own home, suffered life-threatening injuries, including a severed artery in his leg.
Odejeh had earlier threatened the man while he was with family and friends, warning, “You’re lucky I’m not doing you right now. I’m going to stab you and kill you.” Moments later, Odejeh returned with Spencer and a third accomplice, armed with knives and a machete, forcing entry into the victim’s home in Dartford.
Attack Witnessed by Family
The violent trio chased the victim through the house before he tripped and was viciously stabbed and slashed in front of a relative and their partner, who desperately feared for their lives. The attackers fled, leaving the victim fighting for survival.
Emergency services were called immediately. The victim was rushed to hospital, then airlifted to a specialist London centre for critical treatment.
Justice Served at Maidstone Crown Court
Odejeh, 20, and Spencer, 23, both turned themselves in at North Kent police station days after the attack, fully aware they were being hunted.
Despite initially denying the charges, the court found them guilty of intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a knife in a public place. Spencer was also convicted of perverting the course of justice by threatening a witness.
A third suspect was arrested but not charged.
On June 30, 2022, Odejeh was locked up for 10 years, while Spencer received a 10-year and 6-month sentence.
Police Condemn ‘Excessively Violent’ Attackers
PC Scott Spedding, who led the investigation, said: “There can be little doubt that Odejeh and Spencer are excessively violent and extremely dangerous offenders. They subjected the victim to a terrifying and frenzied assault, clearly intent on causing the most harm possible. It is only through good fortune and quick thinking by his associates that the victim was not fatally wounded.”
