Brutal Hostel Brawl Ends in Jail for Two Thugs

Vicious Attack in Nottingham Hostel

Jack Dennis and Gervais Davis stormed into a fellow resident’s room at a Nottingham hostel and unleashed a savage assault. The victim was left battered as they stole his Nike trainers, jeans, two phones, bank card, and even food. The nightmare unfolded at around 1am on November 28, 2021, on London Road.

Threats and Violence Caught on CCTV

At Nottingham Crown Court, it was revealed the pair knocked on the door asking for a cigarette. When the victim told them to wait outside, they barged in regardless. Dennis put the victim in a brutal headlock, forcing him to his knees, before landing repeated punches to the ribs. Meanwhile, Davis rifled through the victim’s belongings.

Dennis didn’t stop there. He threatened to stab the victim 18 times if he told anyone, even warning he’d arrange a rape if the police were contacted.

Justice Served: Jail Time for Attackers

Police swooped after CCTV evidence showed Dennis and Davis entering the room at the time. The pair initially denied the crime but later pleaded guilty.

Dennis, 21 and of no fixed address, was jailed for four years and three months. Davis, 20, also homeless, received four years behind bars.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage

“Dennis and Davis preyed on a vulnerable victim for their own selfish gain,” said Detective Constable Bethanie Foster of Nottinghamshire Police. “It was a despicable act. I thank the victim for their bravery in providing evidence to get these men off the streets.”

“Violent, targeted crime against vulnerable people will not be tolerated. Nottinghamshire Police will do everything to protect the public from offenders like these.”
