Manchester Man and St Albans Woman Charged After Essex Protests
James Skeet, 34, from Manchester, and Stephanie Aylett, 27, from St Albans, were arrested on April 15 and charged with aggravated trespass and breaching bail conditions.
Denied Charges, Then Locked Up
Both denied the offences and challenged the bail breach at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on April 16. Instead of freedom, they were remanded in custody.
Bail Granted – But With Strict Conditions
On April 20, the pair appeared again at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. This time, bail was granted – but on tight restrictions. Skeet must stay in Manchester while Aylett must reside in Harpenden. Neither is allowed in Essex county unless attending court.
Their next court date is set for May 24 at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
23 Charged Amid Thurrock Disruption
Since April 1, 23 people have been charged in connection with disruptive incidents across Thurrock. So far, only one conviction: Catherine Maclean, 64, from Hurstpierpoint, was fined £409 after admitting aggravated trespass at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
Essex Police Warn Protesters: Think Twice
“There are currently no ongoing incidents in Essex and there have not been any since Friday, but we continue to be ready to respond to incidents of criminality should they be reported to us,” said Assistant Chief Constable Glen Pavelin.
“I urge anyone thinking of causing disruption in Essex not to. We support lawful protest but will act firmly against criminal behaviour. Our response over the last three weeks shows that those engaging in reckless disruption will face arrest and court.”
