Teen Killers Locked Up for 31 Years After Fatal Swindon Stabbing

Two boys, Tyler Hunt, 18, and a 15-year-old lad, have been sentenced to a combined 31 years behind bars for the stabbing death of 18-year-old Owen in Swindon last December. The chilling sentence was handed down today at Bristol Crown Court following a unanimous jury verdict.

Brutal Attack Caught on Multiple Cameras

The tragedy unfolded on December 4, 2022, as Owen was heading to visit his girlfriend along Mazurek Way. He was fatally stabbed during the attack. Paramedics found Owen carrying a weapon at the scene.

During the trial, prosecutors presented damning evidence including CCTV, doorbell cams, and dashcam footage. The videos showed Hunt, then 17, and the 15-year-old, who was 14 at the time, cycling on e-bikes straight to the crime spot.

Victim’s Legacy: Raising Knife Crime Awareness

“Owen’s family has started ‘Owen’s World’ – a charity to highlight the impact of knife crime and support others caught in the nightmare,” shared an emotional statement during sentencing.

Police Praise Community and Urge Knife Crime Prevention

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, leading the Major Crime Investigation Team, called the case “shocking” and praised the courage of young witnesses aiding the probe. He warned: “We must intervene before knives fall into young hands. The consequences can be fatal.”

The convictions came after hundreds of hours of footage collected from the public, doorbell cams, and dashcams – showing the vital role of community help in catching killers.

Detective Sergeant Lou Kuklinski urged anyone with information to come forward swiftly. “We need to open dialogues with young people tempted to carry knives and offer them real support before things spiral out of control,” Kuklinski said.

Superintendent Guy Elkins from Swindon acknowledged the community’s grief and highlighted efforts such as educational talks and knife surrender bins designed to curb weapon carrying among youths.

Remember: Carrying knives not only risks your own safety but endangers others — it’s illegal and deadly. The police and community are united to stamp out knife crime before more young lives are lost.
