Speeding thieves caught after wild Swanley car chase
Police were alerted just after 8pm on Monday, January 23, 2023, to a stolen car linked to a shoplifting spree at a Swanley petrol station.
Police chase ends with two arrests
Officers from the Swanley Local Policing Team tracked the vehicle and launched a high-speed pursuit down Guilden Hall Road. The chase ended with the arrest of two suspects.
Joe Rossiter, 39, of Hart Dyke Crescent, Swanley, has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failure to stop, driving without a licence, refusing a blood test, and two counts of theft. He appeared before Medway magistrates and was granted bail ahead of his sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court.
A woman arrested at the scene was later released without charges.
Second stolen car spotted with fake plates
Soon after, officers were tipped off about another dodgy vehicle cruising the area with false number plates. The patrols, with help from an NPAS helicopter, tracked the car to a Dartford address.
Billy Jeeves, 33, from Mayfly Close, Orpington, was charged with dangerous driving, fuel theft, failure to stop, and driving without insurance or a licence. He was granted bail by Medway magistrates and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on February 22.
Woman charged over stolen car ride
Rebecca Scott, 32, of Austin Road, Orpington, faces charges for allowing herself to be transported in a stolen vehicle. She was granted police bail and is scheduled to appear at Sevenoaks magistrates on February 23.
