West Midlands Stash House Gang Busted by NCA

Four criminals running a stash house for drug gangs in the West Midlands have been nailed after a National Crime Agency (NCA) sting.

Undercover Surveillance Snags Gang Members

In January 2021, NCA officers tailed gang member Bui Tuan, 26, to a Chester Road property in Erdington. He was caught sneaking a laundry bag into the house rented by Vien Phan Hoang, 37.

As officers moved in to raid the property, Din Hvan Tran, 26, and Vien’s wife Bui Thi Huong, 29, were spotted trying to stash bundles of cash in the garden.

Drugs, Cash & Crime Uncovered

  • More than 130 kilos of cannabis found – some vacuum packed, some hidden behind loft walls
  • 600 ecstasy tablets and two kilos of ketamine recovered
  • £30,000 cash seized, hidden in bushes and neighbouring gardens

The gang’s stash house was supplying dealers on the street, funneling drugs out and cash in.

Sentences Handed Down – Justice Served

Hoang copped an eight-year prison term for his key role in big-time drug dealing. Huong got a six-month prison sentence, suspended for six months.

Tuan and Tran were cleared of drug supply but found guilty of money laundering. Both received six-month suspended sentences. A bench warrant is out for Tran, who skipped trial.

NCA Senior Investigator Paul Boniface said:

“This gang ran a stash house for a wider network of criminals – a location where drugs were stored before being pushed out to street dealers and sold, with cash moving in the opposite direction.

“Our investigation led to the seizure of drugs worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, profits from which would have fuelled further criminality and exploitation had we not taken action.

“The NCA and our partners are determined to do all we can to protect the public from serious and organised crime.”
