Speed Demon Caught Racing at 151mph on M23!

Audi Driver Blasts Past Limit at Double Speed

Police have unleashed shocking footage of a young driver caught tearing down the M23 at a mind-boggling 151mph. The Audi TT RS was clocked by a safety camera team, smashing well over the 70mph limit.

Dangerous Driving Lands Man in Court

The driver, Ricardo Thompson, 21, a builder from Lancing, now faces the consequences. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Crawley Magistrates’ Court and was slapped with a 15-month driving ban, 150 hours of unpaid work, and hefty fines.

Thompson claimed he sped to get to work on time—but the courts were having none of it. He must also pass an extended driving test before getting his licence back.

Speeding Fuels Tragedy in Sussex

The timing of this footage’s release isn’t accidental. West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are urging motorists to slam on the brakes during Speeding Prevention Month.

Last year alone, Sussex saw 16 deaths and 239 serious injuries from speed-related crashes. Chris Snell of Sussex Police Safety Camera Team warned:

“Speed restrictions are in place for a reason – they are a legal limit; not a target, and your speed should be adjusted according to the conditions. Speeding reduces your ability to react to hazards. By the time you spot danger at high speed, it could be too late.”

Safety Cameras on the Watch

The incident happened on 25 August 2018, as the safety camera van sat clearly visible on a police ramp near Crawley. Following thorough investigations, Thompson was identified and brought to justice.

Police appeal to all drivers: slow down before it’s too late. Speeding isn’t just illegal—it could cost lives.
