Two men arrested after weapons and cannabis haul found in Ashford, Kent
Midnight crash sparks police crackdown
Police swooped in Ashford early Tuesday morning after spotting a suspicious vehicle crashing into a wall on Church Road just past midnight on 18 March. The two occupants fled the scene before officers arrived.
CCTV leads cops to suspects and stash
Ashford CCTV operators quickly circulated a description of one suspect wearing a grey tracksuit seen dumping an item into a parked van nearby. The other suspect was identified as the driver of the crashed vehicle.
After a search on Magazine Road, one man was detained. Officers then searched both vehicles and found a large knife, a ninja star, scales, grinders, and laundry bags filled with a significant quantity of cannabis plants.
Charges and ongoing investigation
Both men have been arrested on suspicion of supplying cannabis, possession of offensive weapons, and driving without insurance. They are currently released on bail pending further investigation.
