Police Urged to Get Tough on Knife Crime
Rich has called for police forces to crack down hard on anyone caught carrying weapons. He also demanded that courts hand out the harshest sentences possible.
No More Soft Talk on Youth Crime
Speaking to TalkTV, Rich slammed the lenient approach of recent years. “We’ve got to cut the crap really. For the last 10 years, it’s been all about ‘let’s not criminalise young people and children,’” he said.
“We’ve gone through a phase where kids caught with knives weren’t even arrested because of policies and a liberal mindset in the system. It’s causing a big problem.”
Frustration Mounts Over Court Sentences
Rich revealed police are fed up with soft judicial decisions. “Repeat offenders aren’t being sent down,” he said. “There are rules meant to ensure tough sentences, but courts find ways ‘in the interests of justice’ to let them off.”
“They use that excuse too often, and it has to stop. From my time around the courts, many judges and lawyers seem to live on another planet. It feels like they don’t experience the real world.”
