Two West Sussex sisters face massive £220,000 bill after stealing from Gatwick duty-free

£220K Proceeds of Crime Order Hits Laura and Georgina Epitropou

Laura and Georgina Epitropou, both from Crawley, were locked up for 2½ years in September 2024 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to steal. Laura also admitted to acquiring criminal property.

At Lewes Crown Court on 16 February, Laura was slapped with an order to repay £182,090.99 within one month. Georgina must cough up £37,487.85 in three months – or face serious consequences.

Luxury Loot Stolen from Gatwick Duty-Free

The sisters swiped thousands in perfumes and cosmetics from Gatwick Airport’s duty-free shops. Their crime spree was busted when airport police caught them at Belfast Airport with £2,000 worth of stolen goods packed in their suitcase as they tried to board a flight.

Pay Up or Face More Jail Time

The pair must now pay the full amount or risk extra jail time under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The confiscation order aims to hit criminals where it hurts – their pockets.
