Shock in Canterbury: Woman Charged with Attempted Murder of Elderly Victim

Dramatic scenes unfolded in Canterbury when a woman in her 70s was found with stab wounds at a Bekesbourne Lane property on the night of Monday, 12 August 2019. Police rushed to the scene around 11.20pm after the victim reported being attacked by someone she knew.

Suspect Arrested Nearby

Officers quickly traced 49-year-old Olivia Moat nearby on Littlebourne Road. She was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim was airlifted to hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition.

Legal Action Underway

By Tuesday, the Crown Prosecution Service had authorised charges of attempted murder against Olivia Moat, who lives on Brymore Road, Canterbury. She was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 14 August 2019.
