Woman Found Guilty of Murder for Stabbing Boyfriend in the Back
Deborah Napier, 53, was today found guilty of murder at Winchester Crown Court. The shocking crime saw Napier plunge a steak knife into her boyfriend Jolyon Wray’s back, leading to his death.
Fatal Stabbing in Ryde
The fatal attack happened just before 4pm on June 13 at an address on East Hill Road, Ryde. Jolyon Wray died from a stab wound to the back. Napier was arrested shortly after the incident.
Troubled Relationship Ends in Tragedy
Detective Constable Luke Donovan revealed the couple had a volatile relationship. He said:
“Deborah and Jolyon clearly had a troubled relationship, which, following a vicious attack, resulted in the tragic loss of Jolyon’s life.”
Despite Napier initially pleading guilty to manslaughter, the investigation pushed for a murder charge. The team presented strong evidence leading to today’s conviction.
Justice for Jolyon
DC Donovan added:
“I hope today’s guilty verdict brings some closure to Jolyon’s family. They have shown incredible strength, especially his brother and sister who gave brave evidence at the trial.”
Napier will be sentenced tomorrow (Nov 25) at Winchester Crown Court.
