Woman Shot Dead Outside Knockholt Pub on Valentine’s Night
A murder probe is underway after a woman was fatally shot outside the busy Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, near Sevenoaks, on February 14, 2025.
Suspect’s Vehicle and Gun Found at Dartford Crossing
Kent Police recovered a vehicle and firearm linked to the shooting at the Dartford Crossing. There are fears the suspect may have jumped into the River Thames from the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge in a desperate bid to flee.
Tragic Shooting Outside Village Pub
- Officers rushed to the Three Horseshoes on Main Road, Knockholt, shortly after 7pm following reports of a disturbance.
- They found a woman in her 40s with gunshot injuries and, despite attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The victim’s next of kin have been informed, and police say a man known to her is the prime suspect.
Search Operation Underway Along the Thames
Reports say someone was seen falling from the bridge, triggering a police helicopter search over the River Thames just before midnight. The suspect remains at large, and officers are exploring the possibility he jumped into the water to escape.
Shock Ripples Through Knockholt Community
Locals are left rattled by the violent incident on Valentine’s night. Parish Councillor Ray Picot said:
“It’s a shock. We’ve never had anything like this happen before. The pub is always well-run and never has trouble. I understand those inside were ushered home by police as they were all in terrible shock. It sounded awful.”
Forensic Teams Work Overnight As Pub Closes
The Three Horseshoes has confirmed a temporary closure. A statement on Facebook read:
“The Three Horseshoes will be CLOSED today, Saturday 15th February, following a tragic incident outside the pub last night. Sorry for any inconvenience. Hopefully, we will be open on Sunday as usual. Thank you.”
A large police cordon remains in place with forensic officers combing the scene, collecting bullet casings near a Seat Ateca believed to be connected to the shooting.
