X Factor Star Danny Tetley Jailed for Nine Years in Child Grooming Scandal
Former X Factor contestant Danny Tetley has been locked up for nine years after pleading guilty to paying teenage boys for indecent images. The 40-year-old used his fleeting celebrity status to groom vulnerable boys aged 14 to 16, exchanging over 10,000 vile WhatsApp messages asking for explicit photos.
Creepy Celeb Exploited Teens for Cash
Tetley sent lewd pictures of himself to instruct the boys on what he wanted. Though he never met them in person, he engaged in highly sexualised chats, offering up to £1,000 per photo or video. To one victim, he said: “The more on show, the better the price.”
He offered bribes, VIP rugby seats, and even flirted with the notion of threesomes. One message read: “Send same pic but drop the boxers.” Another victim was told: “Start with easy ones and see how you feel. Lol.”
Judge Brands Tetley a “Despicable Creature”
At Bradford Crown Court, Tetley showed no emotion as he was sentenced to nine years behind bars, plus eight years on licence. The judge slammed him for abusing his celebrity and exploiting teens for his “perverted sexual needs.”
“Many will see you for what you are, a despicable creature… You abused that status to satisfy your perverted sexual needs, by your actions.”
The court heard Tetley targeted victims by talking about girls, his Range Rover, and his celebrity connections. One boy, struggling with money problems, was offered £500 for a threesome.
Victims Speak Out as Tetley Blames Drugs and Fame
One victim said the abuse destroyed his family and left him riddled with guilt. Another lamented, “Adults don’t understand how life-changing such events can be.”
During sentencing, Tetley’s defence cited his traumatic past — severe bullying, a cleft palate, and a cocaine addiction sparked by a relative’s murder. But the judge made it clear there was no excuse for his vile crimes.
Tetley shot to fame on X Factor 2018, reaching sixth place. Now, his celebrity is forever tarnished by his sickening abuse of trust and young victims.
