Cold Case Break: Robbery Killer Piran Ditta Khan Guilty of PC Sharon Beshenivsky’s Murder
Piran Ditta Khan, 75, has finally been found guilty of the murder of Police Constable Sharon Beshenivsky. The brutal killing happened nearly two decades ago during a daring armed robbery in Bradford on November 18, 2005.
Hero Cop Shot Dead on Daughter’s Birthday
PC Sharon Beshenivsky was a committed 38-year-old officer with West Yorkshire Police. She was responding to a robbery at a city centre travel agency when she was gunned down at point-blank range. Heartbreakingly, it was her youngest daughter’s fourth birthday. Her injuries were instantly fatal, and she died on the pavement.
Khan Caught After Years on the Run
Khan, the last of seven men involved in the raid, had managed to evade justice for years before being extradited last year. Although he admitted to the robbery, he had fiercely denied killing PC Beshenivsky — until now.
During the robbery, three armed men stormed the travel agency and fled with around £5,400 in cash. Another officer, PC Teresa Milburn, was also seriously wounded in the attack.
This landmark conviction brings some closure to a tragic case that shook West Yorkshire and the entire nation.
