Man Arrested After Security Breach at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day

Police from Thames Valley and the Metropolitan forces swooped this morning after a security breach at Windsor Castle at around 8:30am on Christmas Day.

19-Year-Old Southampton Man in Custody

A 19-year-old man from Southampton was arrested at the scene. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Weapons Charges and Tight Security Response

Thames Valley Police Superintendent Rebecca Mears confirmed the 19-year-old faces suspicion of trespassing a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon. She reassured the public that security measures kicked in immediately and the suspect never entered any buildings.

“An investigation is ongoing following this incident and we are working with colleagues from the Metropolitan police,” said Supt. Mears.

“Security processes were triggered within moments of the man entering the grounds and he did not enter any buildings.”

“Members of the Royal Family have been informed about the incident.”

“We do not believe there is a wider danger to the public.”
