Two in Critical Condition After Horror Smash on A68
Northumbria Police are hunting for witnesses after a nasty two-car crash on the A68 in Bingfield on Sunday at 1pm BST. A white Seat and blue Kia collided head-on, leaving two people fighting for their lives.
Air Ambulance Rushes Victims to Hospital
The driver of the Kia, a 69-year-old man, and his 25-year-old passenger were airlifted with life-threatening injuries. Also in the Kia were a 58-year-old woman and a four-year-old girl, both taken to hospital with suspected minor injuries.
The 23-year-old male driver of the Seat suffered minor injuries but was also rushed to hospital.
Road Shut for Six Hours, Appeal for Witnesses
The A68 was closed for around six hours but has now reopened. Police have launched a full investigation and urge anyone who saw the smash or caught it on dashcam to come forward.
Chief Inspector Neil Hall said: “This is an incredibly serious collision which has left two people in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. Our thoughts are with them and their family at this time.”
He added the importance of gathering information to understand how the crash happened.
