Hampshire & Berkshire 4×4 Volunteers Drive Frontline Support Amid Pandemic
A dedicated army of 4×4 volunteers across Hampshire and Berkshire are powering frontline emergency services through the pandemic. This charity crew is delivering vital personal protective equipment (PPE) and food to keep the fight on the frontlines alive.
Tireless Teams Cover Thousands of Miles for Critical Supplies
Working hand-in-hand with Serve On portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth CRT, the 4×4 Response Group has deployed 26 volunteers to smash out 75 tasks, haul over 217 crucial supplies, and clock up an eye-watering 5,597 miles across the region.
Remarkably, they’ve completed 100% of their missions, quietly backing the emergency heroes with zero spotlight. Their efforts are nothing short of heroic.
Unsung Heroes of Emergency Response
Hampshire 4×4 Response says they’re “a small cog in a very large wheel” – but their backing from an unstoppable team of responders makes all the difference. Their vehicles and volunteer time are lifelines, stepping in when normal transport can’t cope.
“We could not do this as one without the continued support of our fantastic team of responders,” said the charity.
What They Do: Mission Critical Support When It Counts
Registered as a charity, Hampshire & Berkshire 4×4 Response provide vital assistance to Category 1 and 2 emergency services like Police, Ambulance, Doctors, and Local Authorities. Working under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004), they tackle extreme conditions like heavy snow and flooding.
Their roles include:
- Transporting people and equipment
- Accessing areas unreachable by standard vehicles
- Recovering stranded individuals and essential equipment
- Supporting logistics at local charity events
By enabling emergency teams to operate in harsh conditions, these 4×4 volunteers are the backbone of lifesaving efforts across their communities.
